All the rain we have been having in the UK has been causing havoc in my shed! In the early summer I knew I would have to fix the shed roof due to the felt disintegrating. From inside the shed you could actually see daylight!

I had ordered some waterproof tarpaulin online for only £7.00 and was waiting for a dry day to do the repair. Eventually the day came and I borrowed some stepladders and climbed ontop of the roof to see the damage.

A big piece of felt was missing! I pulled the tarpaulin over the roof and secured it with wood and nails. It was a quick and cheap fix to see the shed through the winter. Next year I will hopefully re-felt the roof. I do still need to nail some wood along the edges of the shed roof to prevent a gust of wind getting under the tarpaulin and ripping it off. Here is the end result: (also look who came to visit us that day!)

Natalie's Allotment Tips

#1

Do little and often, consistency pays off.

#2

Talk to your neighbours. They will be able to tell you what grows well on your particular site and give you useful advice.

#3

Always net over green leafy vegetables as birds love to nibble them, theres nothing more disheartening than finding your brocolli seedlings have been eaten down to stalks!
